Plotting

Plotting processes control the appearance of the drawing. Through the use of plotting software and pen tables, various effects can be applied to the drawing to produce the final hard copy appearance. The appearance of the CAD file on the computer screen does not necessarily reflect the appearance of the plot.

The District uses Bentley Systems IPLOT software and a 400 dot per inch laser plotter to produce all final plots. A consultant may use other plotting software and hardware, but the final plot should simulate the appearance of the District's plots.

The Consultant should review the plotting parameters, and ensure that files submitted to the District do not contain elements or reference file attachments that conflict with these parameters. If files have elements that are in conflict with the pen table parameters, then the District will not be able to correctly plot the files.

Paper / Plotting Media

Final plots submitted to the District for signature shall be plotted on vellum. The media used shall have a matte finish on both sides. In most cases the Consulting Agreement will contain specific requirements for the final plot media and size. If the consulting agreement does not contain any specific requirements, then all final drawings shall be submitted on high quality vellum, at the size of 22"x34". A sample of the vellum shall be submitted for approval prior to submitting the final plots.

File Control Cell/Data

All plots should include the CAD file control documentation cell, "CADDOC". This cell is located in the STCOMMON.CEL cell library, and is also located in the lower left corner of the drawing border. The IPLOT pen table provides the instructions necessary to automatically plot the file name and date in the fields of this cell, whenever the drawing is plotted.

If a consultant does not have the means to automatically plot this information, then the CAD file name shall be placed as text, above the CADDOC cell, in the file. The CADDOC cell should be left in the file, and will plot as a series of dollar signs.

Saved View;  SV=PLOT

Saved views enable the CAD operator to quickly recall a view window with the correct area and view rotation, and correct levels turned on or off. In each file, the plot view shall be saved so that it can be recalled for plotting.
