Introduction - District CAD Standards

It is the practice of the Engineering Department of East Bay Municipal Utility District (the District) that all Consulting Agreements calling for engineering drawings, architectural drawings, or maps, shall require drawings delivered in MicroStation format, in accordance with approved CAD standards.

The approved Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) or Computer Aided Mapping (CAM) standards are documented in one of three manuals.

Consultants who produce maps or drawings for the District will be required to adhere to the guidelines presented in one or more of these manuals. The District Project Engineer or Project Manager will determine which guidelines shall be used for a specific series of drawings.

Facility Drafting CAD Manual

This manual has been produced by the Facility Drafting Unit of the District's Engineering Department. Its purpose is to provide guidelines for the production of engineering drawings, architectural drawings, and vendor drawings that are used for the construction, modification, or as-built recording of the District's water supply, treatment, and distribution facilities. These include reservoirs, pumping plants, filter plants, regulators, rate control stations, recreation areas, aqueducts, water treatment plants, and dams.

Pipeline Drafting CAD Manual

The District also produces engineering drawings for the water distribution system pipelines and related facilities. These drawings, commonly called "pipeline drawings", generally include water distribution system pipelines that are not on District property. The CAD guidelines for the production of pipeline drawings can be found in the "Pipeline Drafting CAD Manual".
